Our herd consists of approximately five does and two bucks. Our herd size will change as we add and sell goats in our effort to reach our herd goals. Our Nigerian Dwarf goats are, or can/will be, registered with the ADGA.
Our goal is to produce a miniature dairy goat. We feel the essentials to this are;
1) A doe that produces a good amount of milk in proportion to her size,
2) A goat that has a strong, yet dairy build, with good conformation and meets breed standard,
3) A doe that has a lovely, easy to milk udder that will last her lifetime, and,
4) A buck that embodies, and produces kids that meet, the above criteria.
We also enjoy the "cherry on top" with a variety of color as well as blue eyes, moonspots and polled goats.
Most of our kids are dam raised. We like having the flexibility it gives us in our milking schedule. Typically, we separate kids from moms at night, and milk in the morning. So far, our girls produce plenty of milk for both us and their kids.
As of 03/02/2016, our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats has tested negative for CAE, CL, Johne's and Q-Fever. Since then, we have bought and sold goats and done periodic testing. All new goats are quarantined and tested for CAE, CL and Johne's before joining the rest of the herd.
To see our planned kids, see our breeding and kidding schedule below. As our does kid, we will do our best to put pictures and information on the "Kids" page.
